How We Work

From Drawing Callout to Signed-Off Peening Process

A shot peening machine is only as good as the process it repeats. This is the path every KOSHIN project follows.

STEP 01

Specification Review

We confirm material, peening zones, masking, Almen intensity range, coverage target and media type and size against your governing specification.

STEP 02

Lab Trials

Saturation curves and coverage studies on our in-house machines establish parameters with measured evidence — before you commit capital.

STEP 03

Build, FAT & SAT

The machine is built around the validated recipe, proven in factory acceptance testing, then re-verified on site after installation.

STEP 04

Training & Lifecycle

Operators and quality staff are trained on verification routines, and our team supports spares, calibration and upgrades.

Buyer FAQ

Questions Buyers Ask Before Specifying Peening Equipment

Answers from our application engineering team. Need specifics for your part? Our engineers respond to technical questions directly.

Ask an Engineer
What is the difference between shot peening and shot blasting?

Shot blasting and sand blasting remove material such as scale, rust or old coatings and create a surface profile. Shot peening is a cold-working process that uses controlled media impacts to induce a layer of compressive residual stress, which slows crack initiation and extends fatigue life. Peening is verified by Almen intensity and coverage, not by visual cleanliness.

Which specifications can KOSHIN shot peening machines be configured for?

Systems are configured around your governing specification — typically aerospace standards such as AMS 2430 or AMS 2432 for computer-monitored peening — with Almen intensity verified per SAE J442 and J443 and media controlled to the applicable media specification. Monitoring and records are designed to support Nadcap-audited processes.

Can KOSHIN run trials on our parts before we purchase a machine?

Yes. Our in-house machines are used for experiment services including Almen saturation curves, coverage studies and process development on customer samples. Validated parameters transfer directly into the production machine recipe, and contract processing is available for production batches.

What information is needed to prepare a machine proposal?

Workpiece dimensions and material, peening area, intensity and coverage requirements, media type and size, required production rate, available floor space and height, and any HS&E, Nadcap, emissions, noise or energy-efficiency requirements.

Does KOSHIN support overseas installation and after-sales service?

KOSHIN supports customers in more than 50 countries and regions with installation, commissioning, operator training, spare parts and lifecycle upgrades, coordinated from our Singapore engineering center.
